The truth of the matter is that most of us who start a resolution, do not finish them, and those who set out to accomplish a goal and actually reach the finish line, are an exclusive few.

Everybody responds positively to incentive, so give yourself small rewards along the way. So long as they don’t contradict your New Year’s resolution.
Keeping track of your progress can help with the probability that you accomplish what you set out to do. Setting small-term goals, as mentioned before, are easier to accomplish which in turn keeps you motivated to stay on track.

Nobody is perfect, so don’t expect perfection from yourself. Allowing slip-ups to hinder your pursuit of progression will only diminish your motivation. Don’t be thrown off course, just pick up where you left off.
Don’t let the idea of a 365-day habit deter you from accomplishing your goals. Studies show that it takes 21 days to make a habit, and 6 months for that habit to become a part of your personality. Focus on that first month before losing hope, if you can do that you’ll reach that six-month mark in no time.

Don’t be afraid to change up your old goals and make new ones! You can’t have a perfect shot every time, but you can strive to be the best version of yourself, no matter what day of the year it is.
